Check Out The Actresses Starring As Elphaba and Glinda in the Wicked Movie!

We can't wait for these two to defy gravity in the role of their lives!

In early February, it was announced that the new director of the movie adaptation of the 2003 hit Broadway musical, Wicked, has been decided. Through a tweet, “Crazy Rich Asians” director Jon M. Chu shared that he had been chosen to direct the much-awaited film adaptation of the musical. Previously, Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot) was supposed to direct–but due to scheduling conflicts, he had to be replaced.

The musical, which is the prequel to the 1939 MGM film, “The Wizard of Oz”, originally starred Idina Menzel as Elphaba Thropp–the famous green-skinned witch–and Kristin Chenoweth as Galinda (Glinda) the Good Witch, popular for her pink aesthetic. Kristin posted on Twitter that she was so proud of Ariana for getting the role, saying, “From the very first day I met you, you were destined for this role… The best Glinda you will be with Cynthia by your side.”
