Let’s admit it: snail mails feel incomplete when there’s no postage stamps. Choosing a postage stamp is one of the fun parts of sending your letters in a traditional way. It doesn’t only give your letters a personal touch, it also updates your far away loved ones on what’s happening in the community.

The Philippines is known for its creative and beautiful postage stamps, with designs raging from National Hero Jose Rizal to tourist spots such as the Mayon Volcano. The country also has commemorative stamps to honor special occasions and moments of the country. Stamps have been made such as Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray’s winning moment and even Pope Francis’s 2015 visit to the country.

And now, the Vatican city is releasing their own special stamps for this year’s Easter. The city-state announced that Easter 2020’s postage stamp will feature street art from Rome. The chosen street art is an interpretation of “The Ascension,” by Heinrich Hoffman, who is known for his paintings of the life of Jesus, especially “Christ in Gethsemane.”

The Ascension, known for its Sacred Heart, has been superimposed with the words “Just Use It.” Netizens believe that it’s a nod to sportswear brand Nike’s famous tagline Just Do It. A Twitter user says that she thinks it’s a way of telling people to use their hearts and “use it for refuge.” The stamp is accompanied by a quote from Pope Francis’s Easter 2019 Urbi et Orbi message which says, “The Resurrection of Christ is the principle of new life for every man and every woman, because true renewal always starts from the heart, from conscience…”

According to Aleteia.org, another stamp is to be released to commemorate Venetian painter Giambattista Tiepolo’s 250th death anniversary. His stamp will feature his rendition of the “Sacrifice of Isaac,” which features Isaac sitting on a rock, and behind him is his father Abraham, who is holding a dagger. This story from the Old Testament is thought to be a foreshadowing of the sacrifice of Christ on the Cross.

These stamps will be available for purchase at varying prices starting from 1.15 euros.
