Update: SLEX is waiving toll fees for those bringing relief goods for Taal Volcano eruption victims

In recent days, the southbound lane of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) has experienced severe traffic, as seen on various social media sites. This is due to the hundreds of people who are bringing relief goods to the evacuees affected by the Taal Volcano eruption in Batangas. With the amount of help seen at this time, labor group Defend Job Philippines appealed to SLEX’s management, San Miguel Corporation, to waive the toll fee of those traveling to provide help and assistance to the disaster-stricken province.

Due to the volcano’s impending eruption, over 100,000 residents living in its vicinity have been displaced and are currently living in evacuation centers. Private individuals, hospitals, and large corporations have already made cash and in-kind donations for the evacuees.

Organizations are still encouraging everyone to help! Donate items like facemasks, clothing, toiletries, and some cooked meals for our Batangueño brothers and sisters. For more information, contact the local government unit of Batangas at (043) 786 0693 or (043) 733 9350.
