Meet the Stars of New Netflix Korean Movie, ‘Sweet & Sour’

The movie premieres on Netflix this June 4!

Here’s a relationship dynamic that gives new meaning to the saying “It’s complicated:” Jang-hyuk loves Da-eun, but the demands of their careers are getting in the way of their sweet romance. So is Bo-yeong, a colleague of Jang-hyuk’s who’s got her eye on the job he’s after. Has she got her eye on him too?  

That’s the premise of Sweet & Sour, the latest Korean film streaming on Netflix this June 4. The movie directed by Kae-Byeok Lee (director of The Call, Night in Paradise, More than Family) stars Jang Ki-Yong, Chae Soo-Bin, and Krystal Jung as its lead actors. Jang-Hyuk Is Played by Jang Ki-Yong

A guest appearance on It’s Okay, That’s Love (2014) led the boyish actor and model to appearances in Confession Couple (2017), My Mister (2018), Come and Hug Me (2018), and Search: WWW (2019).

“Thank you to everyone who gave me the gift of good memories on ‘Sweet & Sour,’ particularly director Lee Gye Byuk. I really want to work with him again,” said Jang Ki-yong in an interview.

Da-Eun Is Played by Chae Soo-Bin

The actress, who was discovered by a casting agent on the streets, starred in Love in the Moonlight (2016), The Rebel (2017), Strongest Deliveryman (2017), I’m Not a Robot (2017-2018), Where Stars Land (2018), and A Piece of Your Mind (2020) before snagging the role of Jang Ki-yong’s love interest in Sweet & Sour.

“This was a production made through the sincere hearts of the cast and crew, including the director,” said Chae Soo-bin. “The weather was cold but our hearts were warm. Please look forward to the film.”

Bo-Yeong Is Played by Krystal Jung

The Korean-American actress and singer first grabbed attention as a member of the multinational girl group f(x), and in the K-dramas The Heirs (2013), My Lovely Girl (2014), Prison Playbook (2017), The Bride of Habaek (2017), Player (2018), and Search (2020).

“I think the time went by too fast,” says Krystal. “The atmosphere on set was always fun and I really enjoyed making this project step-by-step with everyone.”
