To some, anything unseen by the naked eyes is untrue. Magic, miracles, faith— practically anything intangible and cannot be touched is unreal to them.
The same skepticism is met by people who have stigmata, or similar wounds to what Jesus Christ received during his suffering and eventual nailing on the cross. Still, many of us remain faithful to stigmatic saints and believe them to be helpful in interceding for us to the Lord. (Read: No, They’re Not Magicians! These Saints Are Just Mystical)
One female saint, St. Rita of Cascia, presents with a stigma (singular form of stigmata) on her forehead, reminiscent of Christ’s wounds from the Crown of Thorns. Today, she is recognized as the patron saint of lost and impossible causes, sickness, wounds, marital problems, mothers, and abuse.
So if you are facing any of these problems in your life, here is an intercessory prayer to St. Rita of Cascia. Reach out to her on her feast day today!
Prayer to St. Rita of Cascia
Heavenly Father, in Your infinite love and mercy, you heed the prayer of Your beloved servant, Saint Rita.
You graciously grant favors through her intercession, which are considered impossible to human foresight, skill, and efforts.
Relying on her compassionate love, we ask You to assist us in our trials and difficulties. Let unbelievers know that you are the helper of the humble, the defense of the helpless, and the strength of those who trust in You.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
