#ParaKaySeph: GMA artists come together to raise funds for late lighting director

Dingdong Dantes, Arra San Agustin, Spongecola, and many more lent their time and talent for the family Seph left behind.

Over the past few weeks, the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) has unfortunately claimed thousands of lives worldwide. Of the 165,234 deaths around the world, the United States tops the list with over 40,000 deaths.

Admittedly, the number is alarming, but the good thing is that in the Philippines, the number of deaths hasn’t reached the thousands yet. Frontliners have been doing everything they can to control the number of deaths—just recently, the number of recoveries overtook the number of deaths. Unfortunately, even if the country hasn’t reached a thousand mortalities, there are still 196 individuals who have left their loved ones in grief.

One of these people who have passed on due to the virus is Joseph Delos Reyes, a lighting director for GMA News and Public Affairs. Fondly known as Seph by his workmates—including some Kapuso celebrities—he passed away at 32 years old, leaving behind his family who were relying on him and his help.

To give support to the family Seph left behind, celebrities from GMA Network held an online benefit show on Sunday evening, April 19. #ParaKaySeph was opened by singer Julie Anne San Jose after a short video dedicated to the late lighting director. Kapuso power couple Dingdong and Marian Rivera-Dantes and comedians Boobay and Betong served as hosts for the event.

Aside from them, many more artists of the network lent their time and talents to raise funds for Seph’s family. Bianca Umali, Ruru Madrid, OPM band Spongecola, The Cips (Chynna Ortaleza and Kean Cipriano), Arra San Agustin, and more artists also joined the event.

Seph was known for his work in the drama anthology “Wagas,” and teleseryes “Sahaya” and “Inday Will Always Love You.”
