WATCH: Netflix Releases Trailer For ‘Over the Moon’ Animated Musical

'Over the Moon' is an original animated musical that will surely take you and your children in a fun adventure!

Online streaming giant Netflix has recently unveiled the trailer of its biggest and newest animated movie this year. Over the Moon is an original animated musical that will surely make you and your children cry — but in a good way.  (Read: Pamilya Ordinaryo, Lola Igna, other indie films to premiere on Netflix this June)

‘Over the Moon’

The story revolves around a child named Fei Fei and her strong will to find the Chinese moon goddess Chang’e, who in the trailer is described as a woman who fell in love with a man, but after she accidentally takes a magic potion, she floats away and ends up on the Moon to wait for her lover to return. 

The trailer for Over the Moon promises a lot of adventure and magic, with scenes focusing on Fei Fei as she decides to look for the moon goddess and when she actually does get into space.

Behind the Scenes

Oscar-winner Glen Keane, who’s best known for creating popular characters in Disney movies like The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Pocahontas, Tarzan, Treasure Planet, and many others is the director of this animated musical. He is co-directed by another Oscar winner, John Kahrs. (Read: Freediving in the Philippines to Be Featured in Netflix Series)

Over the Moon is produced under Sony Pictures Imageworks and Pearl Studio which is also behind 2019’s Abominable. Just as incredible as the production team is, the voice cast will also feature the talented artists such as  Cathy Ang, Phillipa Soo, Robert G. Chiu, Ken Jeong, John Cho, Ruthie Ann Miles, Margaret Cho, Kimiko Glenn, Artt Butler, and Sandra Oh. 

The movie is expected to land on Netflix this fall but the official movie premiere date is yet to be announced.
