Attention, Popesters! The Catholic Social Media Awards is now open for nominations until February 25, Thursday. The annual event will conclude with a virtual ceremony and awarding rites on March 20.
The Catholic Social Media Awards is an annual event that began in 2015. It is hosted by Youth Pinoy (a group of young Filipino Catholics) in partnership with Areopagus Communications, Inc., and the Media Office of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines.
According to the CBCP News website, the primary aim of the awards is to give recognition to individuals, parishes, dioceses, and organizations that played a significant role in delivering Catholic content and standing up against misinformation through social media platforms. For this year’s awards, the initiative hopes to provide an added support to the Philippine Catholic Church in terms of promoting faith and evangelization on social media— especially now that everyone is encouraged to stay at home due to the global crisis that is the COVID-19 pandemic.
