3 Delicious Milk Tea Recipes to Try at Home

Satisfy your milk tea cravings with these easy homemade recipes!

For sure, anyone who loves to eat and drink is missing and craving for outside food because of the quarantine restrictions, especially now that not all restaurants are available for delivery, pick up, or take out. Some of the most craved food we can see on social media are ramen, samgyupsal, and of course, milk tea.

Because of cravings, many are now turning to creating their own version of their cravings by looking up recipes online. (Read: The Best Home Recipes by Erwan Heussaff) And here at My Pope, we’ve already shared some recipes for meals and desserts, or where to get ready-to-cook meal kits from your favorite restaurants. At this time, we’re showing you three unique milk tea recipes we found that you can make at home to satisfy your cravings!

Brown Sugar Oat-Milk Tea

Recipe from JENNYxGUS (yields one serving)

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp black tea
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp water for brown sugar syrup making
  • 1/2 cup hot water for steeping the tea
  • 1 cup of oat-milk
  • 1 glass of ice

Make Your Milk Tea:

  • Combine the brown sugar and 1 tbsp water in a microwave-safe glass and mix. Microwave for 20 seconds.
  • Place the mixture in the refrigerator for 5 minutes to cool and set aside.
  • Put the 1/2 cup of water in the microwave and heat for 1 minute. Steep the tea in the water and stir to release flavor. Steep according to package directions.
  • Filter the tea and refrigerate for a few minutes to cool.
  • Pour the brown sugar mixture into a glass by swirling it. Next, add ice.
  • After that, pour the oat-milk, and finally, add the cooled tea on top.

Matcha Tiramisu Milk Tea

Recipe from Tea Laboratheory (matcha milk yields one serving; cheese cream yields four to five)

Ingredients:

  • Matcha Milk
    • 1 cup of milk
    • 2 tbsp matcha powder/green tea
  • Cheese cream
    • 1/4 cup cream cheese
    • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
    • 1/2 cup cream

Make Your Milk Tea:

  • Heat cream and add the matcha. Mix until matcha powder is dissolved.
  • Cool it for a few minutes then add ice. Pour the iced matcha into your serving glass and set aside.
  • In a bowl, combine the cream cheese and powdered sugar. Beat for 2-3 minutes. Then, add the cream and beat for an extra 30 seconds.
  • Pour the cream cream cheese mixture on top of the matcha milk and serve.

*You can add toppings like Grahams if you like.

Sweet Potato Milk with Brown Sugar Boba

Recipe from NO EGGS OR HAM (yields three servings)

Ingredients:

  • 8 oz unsweetened soy milk
  • 1.5 oz boiled sweet potato, peeled
  • 2 oz brown sugar syrup
  • ice
  • 4 oz unsweetened soy milk
  • 5 oz ice
  • 1 oz sweetened condensed coconut milk
  • 1 oz boiled sweet potato, peeled
  • 1 oz brown sugar syrup
  • 3/4 cup tapioca pearls
  • brown sugar syrup

Make Your Milk Tea:

  • In a pot, boil 10 cups of water. Once boiling, add the tapioca pearls and stir until pearls float. Cover the pot and cook for another 15 minutes.
  • Once done, take off the stove and let it cool for 15 minutes. Then, transfer it to a bowl and cover it with brown sugar. Make sure all pearls are covered. Let it sit for 3 hours, or until use.
  • For the milk tea, combine all the other ingredients in a blender and blend until consistency is creamy.
  • Place 1/4 cup boba into your serving glass, pour lots of ice, and add the milk tea mixture.
