Parents, and even non-parents, know how difficult it is to teach children to eat properly and eat fruits and vegetables. That’s because children would often say that they don’t like the taste of vegetables and would much rather prefer to eat sweets and snacks. But of course, that can’t be, especially with the pandemic forcing us to strengthen our immune systems even more.
That’s why we think parents (and older siblings) will be very much delighted to hear that former United States First Lady Michelle Obama is hosting a new children’s show on Netflix that will teach them all about proper eating habits! The show, called Waffles + Mochi, will feature good food, according to the First Lady. (Read: Trust us, These Netflix Food Shows Teach the Best Kitchen Hacks!)
Ingredients and dishes from all around the world will be featured on the show that not only kids will enjoy, but adults as well!
Continuing Her Advocacy
During her First Ladyship, Michelle was known for advocating children’s health. In one of the projects of the Obama administration, “Let’s Move,” the First Lady wanted to address the issue of obesity among the younger generations.
“I am determined to work with folks across this country to change the way a generation of kids thinks about food and nutrition,” she said.
And now, years after she and her husband, Barack, stepped out of the White House, Michelle is still continuing the advocacy she started. (Read: How do you eat healthy while in quarantine? We asked a nutritionist-dietician!)
“In many ways, this show is an extension of my work to support children’s health as First Lady—and to be quite honest, I wish a program like this had been around when my girls were young,” she said in an Instagram post.
Michelle Obama in ‘Waffles + Mochi’
Michelle hopes Waffles + Mochi would bring laughter and light to households, and both parents and kids learn from it.
They are also partnering with Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) to provide fresh ingredients to different households across the US during these trying times so they “can cook together at home.”
Waffles + Mochi will launch on Netflix on March 16.
