After being embroiled in a huge controversy involving his ex-girlfriend, Korean actor Kim Seon-ho had been scrutinized by Korean and international fans. Because of the backlash he received, and the criticisms from the public, companies and brands that have signed the 35-year-old actor as their endorser pulled out all their advertisements featuring Seon-ho.
What’s worse is that he withdrew from projects he was supposed to be or was involved in–shows and movies alike. However, after testimonies from friends and family of both parties surfaced, Seon-ho’s endorsements returned. Luckily, one movie he was supposed to be starring has not changed the cast. “After much deliberation, the producers of Sad Tropics have decided to film the movie this year with actor Kim Seon-ho,” production company NEW said.
The movie, which is set to start filming soon, is entitled ‘Sad Tropics’. Its story centers in on a Korean-Filipino boxer who returns to Korea to look for his father who left him. Seon-ho will be playing one of the two main leads, according to reports. (Read: The Best Korean Dramas To Binge This Halloween)
It will be directer by Park Hoon-jung (New World, V.I.P, The Tiger), and reports say that actress Go Ara–who starred in Hwarang and Reply 1994–is in talks with the production to star alongside Seon-ho. As of writing, there has not been any announcement if the talks with the actress has succeeded.
Sad Tropics is projected to be released sometime in the next year.
