After giving a powerful final performance with her rendition of Beyonce’s “Listen,” Filipino singer Justine Afante won the title of The Voice Kids 2020 grand champion in the United Kingdom.
The 13-year-old Filipina singer—whose family is originally from the Philippines but now lives in Swansea, Wales—wowed the judges with her charisma, uniqueness, and talent during the finals night of the competition that was streamed online on August 29, 2020. “I want to do more singing and probably make a career out of it. But I think singing in The Voice Kids UK has been a dream come true—and I don’t want it to stop.” Afante said.
English singer, songwriter, and actress Pixie Lott served as Afante’s coach throughout the competition. Afante bested three other finalists: fellow Filipino Victoria Alsina from will.i.am’s team, George Elliot from Danny Jones’ team, and Dara McNicholl from Paloma Faith’s team.
As the new The Voice Kids grand champion, Afante brought home 30,000 British pounds or 1.9M pesos for her musical education. She also received an ultimate VIP theme park experience at the Universal Orlando Resort. (Read: 5 Social Media Personalities You Should Be Following)

Blind Audition: ‘Never Enough’

Battle Rounds: ‘Rise Up’

Semi Finals: ‘One Moment In Time’
For the Semi-Final round, Afante gave an amazing performance of Whitney Houston’s “One Moment In Time” which is also a classic Filipino singing contest piece. The young singer completely turned the song her own and made something completely new out of it. Watch it here.
Finals: ‘Don’t You Worry Bout A Thing’
During the finals night of the competition, Afante, together with her coach, performed an amazing and lovely rendition of “Don’t You Worry Bout A Thing” by Tori Kelly.
