Five indoor playgrounds to keep kids active during the rainy season

Just because the rainy season is officially here doesn’t mean your kids (and you!) can’t have fun when you stay indoors. The best indoor playgrounds stimulate the body and mind; all you have to do is identify which one your little boy or girl will enjoy.

My Pope went around the city to spot places where kids can run around, use their imagination, and get creative—all without having to go outdoors. The best part? Grownups will like them too!

The Mind Museum

JY Campos Park, Third Avenue, Bonifacio Global City

Designed “to provide an extraordinary educational experience that inspires the public to understand nature,” The Mind Museum features interactive exhibits, lifelike displays, educational activities, and other thought-provoking presentations that help us understand how we and our world came to be. Learn with your kids about gravity and electromagnetism, marvel at a well-preserved T. Rex skeleton, and watch as scientists explain everyday science through live demonstrations. You’re never too young or old to learn!

Museo Pambata

Roxas Boulevard, Ermita (near the US Embassy)

Described as “a discovery museum and resource center promoting Filipino global culture, children’s advocacy programs, and creative educational programs with linkages to global communities,” Museo Pambata pioneered the interactive exhibit experience, an approach that makes learning enjoyable and stick to the mind. Engage your little one’s senses in a maze-like tunnel that explains how the human body works, then let him or her experience life in Manila from a century ago in a flashback theme room complete with authentic costumes and sets.

Branches nationwide

Originally from Japan, this indoor playground for youngsters will “develop their communication skill, manner and tolerance when playing together with other friends. They learn to take care of each other [and] enjoy every moment with friends.” Colorful kitchen, supermarket, and bakery setups, safe tricycle racetracks and obstacle courses, and cute and friendly mascots will make the hours go by fast. No wonder parents book this place for birthday parties! Visit a Kidzooona branch nearest you.

Jump Yard

Ortigas East Corner C5, Ortigas Avenue, Pasig

Hyperactive kids? Bring them to Jump Yard, the first and biggest indoor trampoline park in the Philippines. Let them execute dunk shots, dodge balls, climb a rock-climbing wall, and land on a bed of soft foam. This activity is suitable for older children, so those younger than 3 years old can hang out in the Toddler Area, while those younger than 9 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Entertainment City, Barangay Tambo, Parañaque City

This indoor theme park is loaded with activities inspired by Shrek, Kung Fu Panda, and the beloved characters of DreamWorks’ animated movies. Your kids will climb walls, negotiate a challenging rope course, build and sail a boat, putter around a kitchen, and watch a puppet show starring their favorite cartoon characters.  Oh, and did we say this indoor playground is located within a complex that includes fine hotels and a variety of restaurants?
