Heart Evangelista Starts Initiative to Help Students in Distance Learning

Today, July 1, Heart Evangelista officially launches her "Big Heart PH" project that aims to equip students with needed tools to help them continue their education.

The worldwide coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) has drastically changed the world as we know it. The crisis has made social distancing and self-isolation the “new normal,” and it’s affecting individuals in different walks of life.  (Read: PH Overtakes Singapore, China in Most Cases in Western Pacific Region)

But even with the rise of COVID-19 cases in the country, Sec. Leonor Briones of the Department of Education is still eyeing on reopening schools by August of this year. In a briefing in Malacanang streamed online, Briones presented the finalized distance learning modalities such as online classes and giving lessons through TV and radio programs.

“Right now we have over 7 million subscribers, wherein lessons homework, quizzes, and tips to learners and teachers are all in DepEd Commons and are accessible even to the parents,” she said.

Big Heart PH

Since resources and modules are very limited and not all teachers and students have computers and internet access for online classes, actress and fashion icon Heart Evangelista has officially launched her ‘Big Heart PH’ initiative today, July 1.

The actress said that it is “a project that will help equip students in need with tools for them to be able to continue their education.” (Read: World Vision PH to Launch Fundraiser for the Benefit of Schoolchildren)

A few weeks ago, I sold this painting of mine in hopes to raise funds to do something that my heart was calling me to. ❤️⁣ ⁣ This pandemic has affected so many people in all walks of life and some of those most affected are the students— under the new normal, they would be required to comply with distance learning or forced to stop their education if they couldn’t. That means that each student would need access to their own tablet and internet. This project of mine started when people were messaging me on Twitter asking for assistance. I knew then in my heart that I had to do something. Someting bigger. ⁣ ⁣ On July 1, I will officially be launching Big Heart PH— a project that will help equip students in need with tools for them to be able to continue their education. ❤️ I know this little project of mine will not be able to help everyone, but I know it will change the lives of those we are able to. ✨ #BigHeartPH @phbigheart
