Adults often think that baby and toddler food can be quite tasteless and boring, especially because it almost always contains no flavoring. But it isn’t the case at all! Babies nowadays eat delicious food that even adults can recreate to a tee— sans the baby-safe ingredients— and enjoy with their young ones.
Celebrity chef Erwan Heussaff is no stranger to baby food that adults can eat. That is why the first-time dad tried to eat what his baby, Dahlia, eats in a day. In his vlog Eating What My Baby Eats, Erwan made “grown-up” versions of Dahlia’s food and ate it alongside the one-year-old. (Read: ‘I Had a Miracle Baby – and a Second Chance at Life!’)
Curious how Erwan’s little experiment turned out? Why not try for yourself some of the food Baby Dahlia Amelie eats in a day? Here are the recipes!
Meals for Baby Dahlia: Sweet Potato Hashbrown and Pan-seared Chicken
Now, who wouldn’t love a good hashbrown for a meal, right? Then pair it with some delicious, healthy chicken— sounds like the perfect meal to us! (Read: Solenn’s Baby Food Recipes Will Make You Want to Be a Kid Again)
Baby Dahlia (and her dad) eat it on a regular basis because it’s just so good. But what makes Erwan’s hashbrown different is that it is healthier— it uses sweet potato, which has more fiber and beta carotene compared to regular potatoes. But according to Erwan himself, it doesn’t change the taste that much, and you’ll still be able to enjoy your dose of hashbrown for the day! Jump to 8:47 of the video to find the recipe.
Meals for Baby Dahlia: Baked Chicken and Hummus
We don’t often hear people eating hummus with something other than some sort of bread like pita. But Erwan puts a twist on this famous Middle Eastern dip just for his daughter. (Read: The Best Home Recipes by Erwan Heussaff)
Instead of pairing it with bread, the celebrity dad bakes a mildly marinated chicken breast for Baby Dahlia— which is the healthiest way to cook it! And if you’re not familiar with or haven’t tasted hummus yet, this is your chance to do so. Pairing something unfamiliar with a basic dish is the best way to try something new! The recipe starts at 7:30 in the video.
Meals for Baby Dahlia: Breakfast Oats
In one of the comments on the video, a viewer pointed out that Baby Dahlia eats healthier than many adults— and to that, Erwan agrees. He says that his one-year-old eats healthier than him every day. And her breakfast meal is just one of the proofs for this statement.
For breakfast, Baby Dahli doesn’t eat cereals— which many kids do. Instead, she eats oats with mashed fruits in the morning! Talk about healthy living at an early age! Dahlia has her oats mixed in with bananas and berries for flavor, vitamins, and a hint of sweetness. You can follow the recipe at 4:56 in the video.
