‘Finding Agnes’ Starring Sue Ramirez Premieres on Netflix This November

The film was produced by the same team behind "Through Night and Day" and "Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap."

Over the past couple of months, a lot of Filipino independent movies have made their international debut through the online streaming platform, Netflix.

Not only did they receive a warm and wonderful feedback from viewers, but some of these films— like the romantic comedy film Through Night And Day by Veronica Velasco starring Alessandra de Rossi and Paolo Contis; and the psycho-romance film Kung Paano Siya Nawala by Joel Ruiz starring JM de Guzman and Rhian Ramos— have also consistently appeared in the Philippines’ Top 10.

And if you think that it’s all Netflix can offer, think again! The online streaming site’s list of Filipino films continues to grow as  Finding Agnes, starring Sue Ramirez and indie film and theater actor Jelson Bay, premieres on November 30.

Filmed in Marrakech, in the Kingdom of Morocco, Finding Agnes is directed by Marla Ancheta and produced by Mavx Productions— the same team behind the Netflix blockbuster films Through Night and Day and Ang Pangarap Kong Holdap.

“I felt nervous at first, but really elated with the given opportunity for my first movie to be shown on Netflix,” said director Ancheta. “I just hope this will open more opportunities not only for me but for other Filipino filmmakers as well.” (Read: Pamilya Ordinaryo, Lola Igna, other indie films to premiere on Netflix)

Based on its official synopsis, the 2019 film follows the complicated story of a successful entrepreneur (Jelson Bay) as he tries to put separate pieces of his life together. The story unfolds as he travels to Morocco and meets his adopted daughter (Sue Ramirez).
