Charlotte’s Web (2006)

Relive the heart and magic of Charlotte’s Web with the rest of the family. Based on the novel with the same title by E.B. White, the movie is about a young pig, Wilbur, who grows up under the love and care of Fern Arable (Dakota Fanning). But as he gets older, he realizes that life is not as perfect as he thinks; he won’t be fern’s pet forever. In fact, he is destined to become someone’s delicious meal! Intervention comes in the form of Charlotte, a spider who has a special talent: She can weave words with her webs. As Charlotte crafts messages about the “terrific” pig, enchantment unfolds in this story of love and friendship.

The Pursuit of Happyness (2006)

Real-life father and son Will and Jaden Smith star in this heart-wrenching film based on a true story. Salesman Chris Gardner (Will Smith) is down and out: He’s broke, his wife walked out on him, and he just lost his apartment. And of course, there’s his young, impressionable son to look after. As he and Christopher Jr. (Jaden) sleep in restrooms and homeless shelters, Chris pushes on with an unpaid internship, battling it out with a number of other interns for that one full-time position. Not once did he mention his homeless state to his bosses, going to the office in his scruffy clothes and even lending his last few dollars to a superior for his cab fare. Unknown to Chris, redemption is just around the corner— reminding us that this movie’s message is just as relevant today as it was when it was first released in 2006.

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989)

Indy (Harrison Ford) may not have the best relationship with his absentee dad (Sean Connery), but they discover that filial love (and love for adventure) win in the end. When his dad, a foremost authority of the Holy Grail, is kidnapped, Indy is hot on his trail. Join the Joneses as they wade through flooded catacombs, soar over blazing deserts, and barge into gold-filled caverns, all while engaging in playful banter that will have you and your dad roaring in laughter.
