Disney UK is welcoming the holiday season with a heartwarming Christmas ad that sends a message of hope and love for Filipino families around the globe.

Celebrating the importance of family and Christmas traditions for Filipinos, the Christmas ad features the poignant song “Love Is A Compass” by UK-based musician, Griff. It follows the story of a Filipina grandmother who has made it an annual Christmas tradition to make parols (star lanterns) with her granddaughter and her most treasured gift—a Mickey Mouse doll that her father gave her in the 1940s. Heart of Christmas
“The ad for me is such a great reflection of the bonds between families,” says Angela Affinita, brand and creative marketing director at Disney Consumer Products, Games, and Publishing. (Read: Three Ways to Celebrate the True Meaning of Christmas)
“We all have unique traditions, especially at Christmas, so being able to draw on my own experience with my Filipina grandmother and the making of star lanterns to bring a level of authentic creativity is pretty special,” Affinita adds.
Disney fans are now able to buy the Mickey Mouse toy that is featured in the advertisement from all Disney Stores and at ShopDisney.co.uk, with proceeds going towards Make-A-Wish organizations.
