QC’s Our Lady of Mount Carmel to Be Crowned on August 15

The momentous event coincides with the celebration of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The image of Our Lady of Mount Carmel enshrined in a minor basilica in Quezon City will be crowned on August 15.

In a Facebook post, the Minor Basilica of the National Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel has said that the coronation will be held on the same day as the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. (Read: Visita Basilica: Seven Minor Basilicas in the Philippines)

However, the faithful are reminded that public Masses will still be restricted as the event is scheduled to take place while Metro Manila is under the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).

In solidarity with those who are badly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Minor Basilica of the National Shrine and Parish of Our Lady of Mount Carmel has assured its prayers “for our brothers and sisters afflicted with the disease and those who perished because of it.” (Read: Panalangin sa panahon ng COVID-19)

“Each day we will ask Our Lady of Mount Carmel to intercede for them, firmly believing that She will bring all the cares and concerns of these people to Her Son, Jesus,” the basilica’s Facebook post said.

Two other images in the Diocese of Cubao have also received such coronation in the past. The Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary de Manila and the Our Lady of Lourdes, both enshrined in two national shrines, were also crowned with approval from the Vatican.
