Prayer to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
The official prayer for the National Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary was adapted from the “Official Act of Consecration” written by St. John Paul II in 1985 for the Feast of the Annunciation in 1985.
It was then shortened and localized to fit the present context in the Philippines. (Read: CBCP Releases ‘Act of Consecration to St. Joseph’ in 6 Local Languages)
According to the CBCP, St. Pope John Paul II wrote the prayer as an offering to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The solemn act of offering was attended by all bishops of the Church at the time— including Cardinal Jaime Sin of Manila and Cardinal Ricardo Vidal of Cebu.
March 25 of that year was also the day that Vidal and 27 others were elevated to the College of Cardinals. (Read: Pope Francis Names Archbishop From Capiz as New Filipino Cardinal)

Back then, the CBCP during their 108th plenary assembly in January passed a resolution that calls for the annual renewal of the consecration. The event would be celebrated in every diocese during the feast day of the Immaculate Heart of Mary until the Jubilee Year of 2021.
For this year, the feast day falls on June 12— the same day as Philippine Independence Day. (Read: Did You Know: Filipinos Used to Celebrate Independence Day on July 4)
