3 CCP Shows You Can Enjoy This February to Celebrate Arts Month

Celebrate Arts Month 2021 virtually with these shows and interactive videos!

In the Philippines, February is not just a love month— it’s also the celebration of Arts Month. Under Presidential Proclamation No. 683, culture and art in all its forms are celebrated every February. And more often than not, events are spearheaded by the National Commission for Culture and Arts (NCCA), who currently has Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray on board as their ambassadress.

For this year, the NCCA will be holding an online celebration for Arts Month in order to keep with tradition. And one of the things lined up for this year is a five-episode web series called ‘Kultura 101,’ hosted by Catriona herself which will be premiering on February 20.

“It’s a light-hearted web series where I share my passion for aspects of Filipino culture whether it be our textiles, our dances, our food,” the former Miss Universe said. (Read: Catriona Gray Is the New Ambassador for Indigenous Handicrafts)

But if five episodes are too short for you, and you still want to watch other stuff to celebrate our Filipino culture and arts, My Pope is listing some shows and interactive videos from the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) to keep you entertained the entire month!

This dance film by Stephen Ramos Biadoma was made to showcase folk dances, dance traditions, and dance rituals in the Philippines. The story and concept were created by the famed UST Salinggawi Dance troupe and music by Teresa Barrozo.

“Hilom is a dance film that forwards the Filipino spirit to the forefront of our fight against the global health crisis.  Our differences in culture, language, or ethnicity do not hinder, us but rather enrich and unify our call and prayer for healing,” Biadoma said.
