14 Catholic Priests in India Succumb to COVID-19 in 4 Days

The total number of infections in the country has already reached 16 million, and fatalities at almost 200,000.

The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed the lives of as many as 14 Catholic priests between April 20 and 23 in India, according to information gathered from around the country.

Over the past few months, India’s media outlets have been overwhelmed by distressing scenes of hospitals dealing with surges in COVID-19 cases. Many have been experiencing critical shortages in beds and ICU facilities, with patients suffocating to death due to insufficient supply of oxygen.

On Saturday, April 24, the country marked its worst COVID-19 spike with a total of 346,786 new cases. This brings the total number of infections in the country to 16 million and fatalities to 189,544. (Read: Pope Declares ‘Global Rosary Marathon’ for End of COVID-19)
