The past few years have seen the rise in popularity of the Korean pop genre. Many K-pop acts have already gone on the international music stage and TV shows, and even got the chance to perform alongside western music icons for events and concerts.
But if we’re talking awards, firsts, and making history, there’s one Korean group that will easily come to mind: the seven-piece boy group, BTS! (Read: BTS’ New Single Racks up Billions, Boosts Economy Within 3 Weeks)
Composed of Jin, Suga, RM, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, this boy group is no stranger to making and breaking records locally and internationally.
In 2019, BTS broke records as the top-grossing touring group, amassing a total of $196 million for their ‘Love Yourself’ world tour, and the ‘Love Yourself: Speak Yourself extension’.
In 2020, the boy group also broke their own record for most viewers of an online concert when their ‘MAP OF THE SOUL ON:E’ virtual concert sold 993,000 tickets across 191 countries. (LIST: Winners of 2021 Billboard Music Awards)
And just recently, BTS single-handedly broke five records on YouTube and Spotify with their most recent release, “Butter.” On YouTube, the music video broke the record for most viewers of a video premiere (3.9 million), most viewed YouTube video in 24 hours (108.2 million views), and most viewed K-pop group video in 24 hours.
Meanwhile, on Spotify, “Butter” broke the record for most streamed track in 24 hours (11.04 million) and most-streamed group on the platform (16.3 billion total streams).

These fans support them and their music wherever they go— streaming their music, buying albums, watching them in concert, and even patronizing the BTS official merchandise!
So just imagine the excitement of Filipino ARMYs when they heard that the BTS Pop-up Store is finally coming to Manila. Called the ‘BTS Pop-up: Map of the Soul’, the store will be opening its doors in SM Megamall on May 29, Saturday.
The BTS Pop-up will sell official BTS merchandise inspired by the group’s “Map of the Soul: 7” album released in February 2020. Fans will be able to purchase various items such as stationery, apparel, and albums, among others.
The pop-up store will stay open until August 29 of this year.
