If you’re a fan of macarons, you’ve surely had a taste of Bizu macarons in the past. Bizu, a French-inspired patisserie and cafe, is best known for their delicious macarons that use only the freshest and finest ingredients. People would often visit their store and purchase boxes of these colorful confections, especially during the holidays so they could gift it to their loved ones.
That is why we know macaron fans will be happy to know that Bizu has just launched six new flavors of their famous confection! The new flavors are what they call “chunky” flavors— because it’s twice the size, and twice the filling. (Read: Celebrate the Feast Day of St. Honore With This Cake Recipe!)
They are a macaron ‘sandwich’ of sorts, which combines various flavors of macarons in one sandwich. If this got you curious, here are the new flavors!
#1: Durian and Salted Caramel
Some of the new macaron flavors highlight traditional Filipino fruits. Just like this one which puts the spotlight on durian, a popular Mindanao fruit. We all know that the fruit itself doesn’t have the most pleasing of scents, but this macaron will surely make you love this fruit. To complement its taste, it is paired with the crowd-favorite salted caramel sauce.
#2: Malagos Chocolate and Hazelnut Praline
Hazelnut fans, rejoice! Award-winning local chocolate Malagos is the star of this combination. Its smooth, rich taste will definitely keep you coming back for more. And pairing it with hazelnut praline? This might just be your new favorite!
#3: Peanut Butter and Guava
Another one of the fruity flavors is the peanut butter and guava macaron. Just like durian, guava has an arguably stronger smell than other fruits, which puts off foodies. But pairing it with peanut butter offsets its scent, which will encourage you to try it for yourself!
#4: Strawberries and Cream
This flavor is classic and timeless–you can never go wrong with strawberries and cream. And despite it being one of the more common flavors in this collection, you should still try it because it only uses the freshest strawberries and their signature buttercream filling! #5: S’mores and Chocolate Chip Cookie
This combination will definitely remind you of your childhood and the camping trips you did back then. But even if you didn’t experience camping when you were younger, the s’mores and chocolate chip cookie macaron will still take you back to when you were a kid. It will remind you of the slow Sundays you had with your family, and the scent of cookies baking spreading around the entire house.
#6: Ube and Chiboust
This is another one of the Filipino-inspired flavors! Ube or purple yam is used as the base for the macaron, while the filling is chiboust. Chiboust is a cream that is lightened with Italian meringue, and is sometimes infused with orange zest, vanilla, or liqueurs.
