Angel Locsin is indeed a real-life Darna! The actress, famous for her portrayal of the Pinay superhero character, has recently lent a helping hand to our brothers and sisters who are fighting the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the Philippines.
The Forbes Asia Hero of Philanthropy launched #UniTentWeStandPH on March 25 to help decongest overcrowded hospitals. The tents will serve as isolation areas for patients while some will be used as sleeping quarters to frontliners.
The effort has since snowballed to a massive project that continues to deliver tents, medical supplies, and personal protective equipment (PPE) to hospitals in and out of Metro Manila.
Recently, Angel, along with Neil Arce, Dimples Romana, Marev Matic, and Gines, announced that the Unitent We Stand PH initiative has raised P11.35 million and has set up 246 sanitary, safe, and stylish tents in different hospitals in the country.

Because of your overwhelming support, we are happy to announce that we have sufficiently funded the #UniTENTweStandPH campaign. With a full and grateful heart, we are now ending the fundraising and will no longer accept CASH donations through PayPal, Paymaya, or bank account. Tuloy pa rin po ang pagbibigay natin ng hospital tents sa mga ospital. Thank you very much!?? “Binuo po ang #UniTentWeStandPH para po makatulong kahit papaano sa overcrowding situation ng ating mga ospital, sa mga pasyente na hindi na po nagagamot, sa mga health workers na hindi nabibigyan ng tamang proteksyon, sa mga pasyente na nahahalo sa ibang cases. Iyon po ang dahilan kung bakit tayo nandito,” the actress said.
As the fundraiser has received “more than enough” donations, Angel decided they will no longer accept further monetary help, as they now shift the focus on setting up the remainder of the tents at hospitals.
