Desserts are what we’d eat when we’re tired, craving, or stressed. Ironically, the word itself spells ‘stressed’ backward! Maybe that’s why we turn to sweets to calm ourselves or when we just have to take a break from what we’re doing.
Our usual go-to desserts would be ice cream in our favorite flavor, a chocolate bar, or a slice of our favorite cake. But as time passes, more desserts are being developed and discovered, and we now have more choices when we’re craving sweets! (Read: 5 Dessert Recipes Using Fruits in Summer Season)
Just last week, a handful of new flavors for classic desserts were launched by different brands. So to help you know what’s in store for you, My Pope Philippins rounds up all the new flavor releases you can get your hands on! Read below.
Dunkin’: Maja and Halo-Halo Donuts
Yes, two of the classic (and favorite!) Pinoy merienda food, maja and halo-halo, have just been made into donuts! Dunkin’ recently released two new donuts inspired by these Filipino desserts, both part of their summer collection.
The maja bavarian donut has the classic Dunkin’ bavarian filling inside, and creamed corn and cornflakes on top. On the other hand, the halo-halo donut is filled with green bavarian fiilling, topped with ube glaze, whipped cream, and other usual halo-halo toppings.
Dairy Queen: Mango-Flavored Blizzards
Because mango is the most popular fruit in season right now, Dairy Queen (DQ) has launched various mango-flavored items for their menu. All part of the Mango-nificent Fest, the new flavors include mango cashew, mango choco mallows, mango graham, and mango graham cheesecake parfait blizzards, and a mango-nificent cake.
The cake is made of pure vanilla ice cream, mango syrup, white frosting, mangoes, and cheesecake bits.
Krispy Kreme: Love Sweet Donut
Inspired by K-pop girl group Blackpink, Krispy Kreme has released two new donuts for their “Love Sweet Series.” Both donuts are in the signature black and pink colors, of course.
The black frosting is chocolate-flavored, while the pink one is strawberry-flavored. Each donut is filled with pink strawberry filling, and is topped with pink sprinkles.
Max’s: Caramel Bar Cheesecake
Max’s is popular for its caramel bar, which is often served on the side of a fried chicken meal, or as a dessert for their group meals. But now, Max’s has leveled up their corner bakery classic by making it into a cheesecake!
The base is the traditional New York cheesecake, but with crushed caramel bars as its crust. And it is topped with more crushed caramel bars!
