Over the weekend, actress, singer, and TV host Alex Gonzaga-Morada confirmed some sad news that had recently been circulating about her. In an Instagram post on October 17, the 33-year-old shared that she and her husband, Lipa Councilor Mikee Morada, lost their first baby to miscarriage. “[Two] months ago we found out that I was pregnant,” she said, “and [three] weeks ago, we got a heartbreaking news that we might be having an anembryonic pregnancy (blighted ovum).”
An anembryonic pregnancy is when a fertilized egg implants into the uterus but never develops an embryo. Alex shared that when they found out about the situation, their doctor advised that they “wait for the process to naturally take its course”. Their family prayed fervently every day–but unfortunately, on October 12, the dreaded news came. (Read: WATCH: This 5-minute Video Expresses The Pain of Losing A Baby)
“We had to wait for awhile for the pregnancy to finally end before we can tell our story… last Tuesday (Oct. 12), the Lord’s will prevailed and we finally closed the book of our first pregnancy,” Alex added in the caption.

Holding on to the Lord
This pregnancy, according to the TV host, tested their faith. “The waiting and praying tested our faith and there were a lot of crying,” she said. “Everyday we were clinging on to a miracle that an embryo would still appear.”
And now that they are grieving after the miscarriage, the couple–who wed last year in a private ceremony–continues to hold on to the Lord. “We share our story to give hope that in the midst of this pain and loss the Lord will always sustain you,” Alex said. “To any couple who’s going through this or who might go through this pain, don’t ever lose hope. It’s not your fault this happened. At your own pace you can start to grieve and heal.” (Read: 3 Celebrity Moms Who Were Blessed With a Miracle Baby)
Alex ended her post by saying that they believe that in the Lord’s time, they will finally receive the blessing they are hoping for. “We know that in His perfect time, He will bless us with our ultimate desire. To our baby whom we almost had, thank you for giving mommy and daddy joy even for a short span.”
