6 After-School Snack Ideas for Your Little Ones

School has already started. How have your kids been coping? Photos that have been circulating online show that while there are some kids who visibly enjoyed their first school day, there are also others who seemed to have greeted the experience with jitters and disorientation. Help your kids recharge and be encouraged to go to school with these six after-school snack ideas!

Fruity Ice Pops

What’s good about home-made ice pops is that you get to control  exactly what goes in them. This recipe from Food Network provides added vitamin C and calcium to your child. Just blend an orange-honey mixture with yogurt, orange zest, vanilla and a pinch of salt. Pour into the pop molds, freeze for at least 4 hours, and you’re all set! You could also try mixing other fruits such pineapples, bananas, or strawberries.

Sweet Potato Fries

Sweet potato fries are healthier than regular french fries. They are softer and yummier, too! (That is especially when dipped in ketchup). Try this baked sweet potato fries recipe from and you’ll never again feel guilty about letting your kids munch on fries!

Carrots are a good source of dietary fiber (great for digestive health), vitamin C, vitamin K, and potassium. They are ideal as after-school snacks too because they are easy to prepare. However, it can’t also be denied that most kids are not fond of vegetables. To get around with this, why don’t you try adding a little bit of spice (or in this case, a dip) to freshly cut carrots?  Try this carrot dip recipe from Taste of Home and your kids might turn out to love vegetables, after all!
