Moving on is not as easy as they say. It will take days, weeks, months, or for some, even years to be able to move on from what hurt them or disturbed their peace.
However, moving on is a necessary part of life in order to be able to forward and look ahead to the future. Nothing will happen if we get stuck in the past, brewing in pain and sorrow because of something someone did to us. We cannot control their actions, but we can certainly control how we react to it. And if we let their actions affect us negatively and impact our lives for the worst, then it’s time to re-assess our coping mechanisms and reactions to life’s lemons. Sit in silence for a while, reflect, and talk to God because He will never ever let you down. (Read: Prayer to Keep Moving Forward)
As Pope Francis said, “But please know, Jesus never lets you down. Please know that the love and tenderness of Mother Mary never lets you down. And holding on to her mantle and with the power that comes from Jesus love on the cross, let us move forward, always forward, and walk together as brothers and sisters in the Lord forward.”
If you find it difficult to let go and move on from what happened in the past– may it be as little as someone taking a parking slot away– let this prayer heal your heart and give you peace. Ask God to show you the lessons of yesterday so you can have the best today and tomorrow.
A Prayer To Move On From Yesterday
Father, Praise You for the sky and sun, for both remind us of a new day’s challenge and chance to chase You. Thank You for reminding us life is not always easy, but that we don’t have to carry the hard into each new day. Forgive us for dwelling on the past and for holding onto grudges. Bless our hearts to be held back by nothing as we seek You each day. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
